General Guidelines

The following guidelines apply to all Bella Vista Foundation applicants. For additional guidelines in your specific program area, please visit the Program Area section.

The Bella Vista Foundation awards grants to public charities operating under an IRS 501(c)(3) status or fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3) organization.

The foundation does not award grants to individuals.

The foundation does not make grants to endowments, events, annual appeals, videos, medical research, capital campaigns, and conferences.

The foundation only supports non-sectarian programs.

Only one request from an organization will be funded in a 12-month period.

Declination: If your organization’s last application to the foundation was declined, please contact the program officer for your grantmaking area before you apply again. You may also contact Jonny Moy, Grants Manager, to be directed to the correct person.

Application Calendar

THE BELLA VISTA FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS TWICE PER CALENDAR YEAR IN ALL PROGRAM AREAS

The submission windows are as follows:

  • June 14 – 25, 2021*, with grant decisions made in October 2021
    *Pre-3 Support applicants in Alameda County will have until July 9, 2021 to submit their application.
  • January 17 – 28, 2022, with grant decisions made in April 2022

  • Applications are due by 5:00 pm PST on the final day of the submission window.
